DESCRIPTION: \n  \n  \n Purpose: \n  \n  \n To provide professional lifeguards for BSA operated facilities, council aquatics committees, and year-round aquatics programming. In addition, this training is intended to meet the requirements of government agencies for operations at a regulated swimming venue. \n  \n  \n Required Paperwork &ndash; Needed Upon Arrival \n  \n  \n  \n 	BSA Annual Health and Medical Record, Parts A, B1, and B2. \n 	Show evidence of current training in the BSA Safe Swim Defense. \n 	 \n 		Go to my.scouting.org to complete this. \n 	 \n 	 \n 	Show evidence of completion of the online portion of CPR. \n 	 \n 		Access will be given to the students by the instructor once they sign up for the course. \n 	 \n 	 \n  \n  \n Pre-requisites: \n  \n  \n  \n 	Must be 15 years of age or older as of April 13, 2024. \n 	Completion of Lifesaving Merit Badge or BSA Aquatics Supervision: Swimming and Water Rescue course highly recommended. \n  \n  \n Required Skills Check: \n  \n  \n  \n 	Must complete the following upon arrival of the first day. \n 	 \n 		Complete the BSA Swim Check. \n 		After the swim check, continue to swim 450 yards using in good form using the front crawl or breaststroke or a combination of either.  Swimming on the back or side is not allowed. \n 		Immediately following the above swim, tread water for two minutes with the legs only and the hands under the armpits. \n 		Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using a front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7 to 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, surface, swim on your back with the object 20 yards back to the starting point with both hands holding the object, and exit the water, all within 1 minute, 40 seconds. \n 	 \n 	 \n  \n  \n Need to bring the following: \n  \n  \n Appropriate Swimsuit \n  \n 2 Towels \n  \n Sunscreen \n  \n Water Bottle \n  \n Flip Flops/ Sandals \n  \n Chair \n  \n Lunch for both days \n
