Western Region Venturing Double Dare Challenge

Can you double the size of your crew by the end of the year? Yes you can! All it takes is for each crew member to invite one friend to join the adventure.
Not only is inviting your friends one of the best ways to recruit people into Venturing, but it is also adds fun and excitement to the program for you. When I was in 8th grade, my best friend (whose brother had just earned his Eagle Award in Boy Scouts and was looking for a new challenge), asked me to join the Venturing Crew she and her brother were starting. I jumped on board right away, excited for the hiking and camping ahead. But I also knew that joining the crew would just be a chance for me to spend even more time with my friend. That night when I told my family about it, my sister laughed and said that she’d also been asked to join a new Venturing crew that day, by none other than my best friend’s brother! Just in a day, Venturing Crew 17 grew from 2 members to 4. And by the end of the year, we had more than 15 members from all ages and levels of previous Scouting experience.
My crew is just one example of the power of recruiting your friends to Venturing. Not only did I strengthen my relationships with my friends and sister, but I also made many new ones. I also learned how great it felt to share the opportunities and thrilling experiences of Venturing with others!
So I urge you to take on the Double Dare Challenge and invite one friend to join Venturing to help double the size of your crew by the end of the year. If you need help getting started, the Western Region VOA has plenty of resources for you. You can also check out the Western Region Venturing Facebook page or website for more information.  Download the materials here.
I am taking on this challenge myself and am going to encourage a Venturing alumni to come back and support the Western Region too – together, let’s continue to build the adventure!
