A New Opportunity for Boy Scouts Has Arrived in the Grayback District

A District Boy Scout Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) Council is forming right here in your backyard. Come be part of the SPL Council roundtable and get the tools and support for running your troop. This is a youth run Council with an Advisor present to assist as needed. We would like all Grayback District SPLs to attend this once a month get together. Meet other SPLs from other Troops in your District and share ideas on running meetings, solving problems, exchanging camping trip experiences and much, much more. By attending you will be learning to build a stronger, fun Troop and District. You will learn some proper leadership skills and some methods you would not want to use. In addition we request if the SPL cannot attend a meeting he should encourage his ASPL to attend, so we have representation from each Troop.

The first meeting will begin on October 8, 2015 at 7:00pm

Pack 97 & Riverside City Hall

On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, Riverside Pack 97 attended a Riverside City Council Meeting and had the opportunity to thank Mayor Rusty Bailey and Councilman Paul Davis for their assistance at our annual Raingutter Regatta.  In years past, Pack 97 regularly held their Regatta at the Islander Park Pool so that the boys could swim between races and work on their activity badges and swimming belt loops. However, changes in policy had made that impossible for the last three years.  This year, Pack 97 reached out to our city leaders and with the help of our City Councilman, Paul Davis, our Mayor, Rusty Bailey, and the wonderful people at the City of Riverside Parks and Recreation Department; we were able to return.  The boys and our families had a wonderful time.  Webelos worked on their Aquanaut and many a Cub Scout worked on their cannon ball!

In recognition of their hard work, Pack 97 presented our gratitude to the City of Riverside and our hard working Civic Leaders!  It was a great opportunity for boys to see how a City Council meeting works and to meet our Civic Leaders.

Thank You,  John D. Skiff, Cubmaster - Riverside Pack 97

Positive Quote & Prayer
---------------------------------

“Correcting bad habits cannot be done by forbidding or punishment.”

    ~  Baden-Powell

Dear Lord,

Work on my attitude.

Teach me to be more loving, compassionate,
patient, obedient, and humble.

Strip away the anger, the bitterness, the stubborness,
laziness, pride and complacency.

Help me to become more like You and to practice what I preach.

Amen
