| Camp Staff Application Scouts & Scouters, Opportunities to serve Scouting as a member of the Summer Camp staff are available to exceptional applicants. Camp Emerson at Boseker Scout Reservation is dedicated to supporting each troop's outdoor and advancement program while giving each scout an enriching long-term camping experience, strengthening their outdoor skills and building camaraderie. The California Inland Empire Council follows the following hiring practices and procedures for all applicants that are considered for positions. As an equal opportunity employer, the California Inland Empire Council accepts applications for summer camp staff positions (volunteer or paid) regardless of sex, race, religion or creed, as long as that individual is at least 14 years of age and willing to adhere to the principles and policies of the Boy Scouts of America. The hiring procedure and requirements include: - Applicant must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America
- If an applicant is between the ages of 14 & 18, parents’ permission by signature are required on the application.
- Designated camp management using a list of approved questions conducts a personal interview.
- A decision will be made to hire the best-qualified candidates based upon the applicant’s skills coupled with the needs of the camp. The consideration of an applicant for employment will be finalized after references, verification of work histories and, if over 18 years of age, fingerprinting results from the Department of Justice.
- At time of hire the employee is given their job description
In addition to the above, the minimum age accepted is 16; 14 for Counselors in Training. Boy Scouts of America standards require ages 18 and 21 minimum for some positions. As a member of Camp Staff, the following are requirements: - All staff must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America.
- The principles of the Scout Oath and Law must be practiced as a way of life.
- The staff is expected to wear the Scout uniform.
- Salary is based on position responsibility with consideration given to individual experience.
